Film Geeks: I highly recommend the latest Linklater film, Boyhood, which is like nothing in film history. Filmed over the course of 12 years, you see the effects of the passage of time in the maturing of the characters. The story is brilliantly simple, tender, and realistic. It is remarkable to see a boy actually “grow up” in the space of 2 hours 40 min. Add to that the subtleties of humor, the understated drama of changes, and the dialogue that just naturally flows, this film is a classic. I saw it twice at the IFC in the village. Go see it there, or at an independent theater near you. Buy your tickets ahead of time, because most shows are selling out!
